Training Day for all HYT leaders

Friday saw HYT embark on a one-day course on block making to ensure that all our trainers and site heads are fully up to date with the latest available advice. An engineer from the press manufactures came to Mutai Secondary School, one of our frequent sites, to run a day-long course for 15 members of the HYT team along with a groups of masons from the Henry van Staubenzee Memorial Fund and our neighbours, Soft Power Education. 

During the day we received advice about sieving soil prior to its compression, the best way to stack the blocks for curing and some new techniques for building corners.

It was a hot day spent in the sun and the team were grateful to the wonderful cook at Mutai SS who provided us with a delicious lunch half way through the day.
