Last week HYT were able to begin work at a few schools up in
the Kamuli district on behalf of the Rotary project. The rotary project is a
worldwide organization with over 34,000 clubs whose members volunteer and fund raise to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat
hunger and improve health and sanitation. In conjunction with these aims the
focus of rotary’s projects with HYT is mainly to build water tanks and latrines,
thus providing the basic essentials of clean water and more hygienic sanitation.

Work under way at St Kaloli |
The first
projects to commence are at Namaganda primary school; where HYT completed work
before for our 1V3 project, and St. Kaloli School which will both receive two
10,000 litre water tanks and two blocks of Latrines. This work will hopefully
be completed within 6 months during which we should be able to commence work at
Kinawempere School for a water tank, and Bologo Cope School for a Water tank
and a latrine.

Foundation for the St Kaloli Latrine |
Rotary will also
be supporting Makoka primary school; HYT’s current 1V4 project, by building a
new latrine block and a Water tank once work on 1V4 is complete. Currently we
are building the second teachers dorm block for Makoka which seems to be
progressing incredibly quickly thanks to the workers hard work and efficiency.
The walls have already been completed and this week the ring beam will be
constructed.
We are looking
forward to keeping you updated on these projects as they progress.
