After several weeks of
tuition and careful guidance by Rebecca, the girls of Namanga village held
their first netball match on the newly drawn out pitch at the front of the
school.
The girls get very
little opportunity to participate in any sports and thoroughly enjoyed playing
against each other. Newly decked out in
their bibs, kindly supplied by Tanya Simmonds, the final score was 12-9 to the
blue team. Rebecca was amazed at how
quickly they were able to pick up the rules and hopes netball will flourish at
Namaganda Primary School in the future.
Netball is just one of
the sports that Rebecca and Ryan have introduced within the village. Of course football has proved popular along
with volleyball and high jump.
