From Edmonstone to Uganda by Ryan O'Leary

Whilst I was at Haileybury, I boarded in Edmonstone House and in my final year was able to help raise money for a new water tank to be built by HYT in Kizigo. Now that I am a volunteer out in Uganda for HYT, a few months ago I was able to see the water tank for myself and how it helped the children and people, making their lives a lot easier. It was great to see in person how our fundraising had helped and was equally pleased when I heard Edmonstone had raised a further £600 for HYT.

Whilst volunteering in Uganda, I have been helping out at HYT's 1V3 project at Namaganda. We have recently finished work there but it was evident they still needed a few more vital things. Namaganda Primary School was without desks and mosquito nets for their boarders.

So together with Edmonstone, it was decided that the money would be spent on this. All the classrooms are now kitted out with desks and all the boarders now have mosquito nets. Arguably the more important of these are the mosquito nets, as malaria is one of Africa's biggest killers and in the villages treatment is very hard to come by.

I was delighted to be able to hand over the desks as they arrived and the mosquito nets. Thankyou Edmonstone for all your support.
