The 2nd July sees the start of our next ‘One Village’
project which is to take place primarily at Makoka Primary School in the
Namaganda region. We plan to start the work with the construction of a teachers’
accommodation block and we will follow this with the building of a classroom
block and a boy’s dormitory at St Kaloli Primary School.

Makoka Primary School consists of 239 boys and 309 girls. One
of the reasons the school has been chosen is due to the fact that they have previously
tried to help themselves and have been pro-active in doing what they can to
help the school grow.

Alongside this we are proud to announce that HYT will be
running a project on behalf of the Rotary Foundation. This will involve the
construction of sanitation facilities including latrine blocks and rainwater
tanks. The Rotary project will potentially be able to provide for up to 10
public facilities in the area.
The ‘One Village at a Time’ project also involves the training
of Ugandans in ISSB technology and general construction techniques enabling
them to acquire the skills to provide for their own futures. HYT will be funding
the training of eight volunteers from the surrounding area; as well as training
twenty individuals in the construction of sanitary facilities funded by the
Rotary Foundation.
This year the selection process to determine the volunteers
involved team building exercises to see how they work with one another and to
help us evaluate them as individuals.

We are very much looking forward to the beginning of our next 1v4 and the next stage of HYT's development in Uganda.
