"...and there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time!"

As we approach Christmas week there is no let up in the hot weather or the pace of HYT's development and training work. Come Saturday however, the HYT Uganda team will have a much deserved break and a chance to spend some time relaxing with their families.

One of the cooks at Kizzigo Seconday School sorting beans to be eaten with posho by the students that can afford it each lunch time. Posho is made from maize flour mixed with water and cooked. It is the staple food in Uganda and the typical generosity of Ugandan people means we are often offered a posho and beans meal when at our training sites.

The foundations of the new kitchen at Kizzigo. The new building will make work more pleasant and manageable for people like the lady above. It will also be far more hygienic and feature energy saving stoves which vastly reduce the cost of firewood and hopefully make the cost of lunch more accessible for poorer children.
